Gosikhurd project gets fourth financial boost

The Maharashtra cabinet gave its fourth administrative nod to the Gosikhurd National Project on Tuesday, April 22. The project’s total cost is estimated at 25,972.69 INR-Crore.

The Gosikhurd National Project, led by the Vidarbha Irrigation Development Corporation, will benefit 1,96,600 Hectares of land. It spans across Nagpur, Chandrapur, and Bhandara districts. This multipurpose project aims to support irrigation, drinking water needs, industrial water use, fisheries, and hydropower generation.

Furthermore, the irrigation facilities in these three districts will see major improvements. Authorities will use open canals, lift irrigation, and closed pipe systems for distribution. The Gosikhurd Project will bring relief to water-scarce areas, enhance agricultural output, and ensure water security.
