On Thursday, July 13, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal and Chief Minister of Gujarat Bhupendra Patel signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish PM MITRA (Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel) – an integrated textile park – at Vansi Village in Navsari district. Officials have stated that the park, spanning 1,142 acres, will be the seventh PM Mitra park in the country.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel disclosed that the Gujarat government will provide 30 percent of the total project cost of the PM MITRA textile park, amounting to INR 500 crore. The project is expected to attract an investment of INR 10,000 crore, with 1,809 applications expressing interest already received, and more expected to come.
Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal highlighted that Navsari was selected based on a thorough evaluation of several factors, including connectivity, eco-system, textile and industrial policy, power and water utilities, digital connectivity, environmental impact, and more.
