Haryana State Government has begun the process for the construction of an 800 MW (Megawatt) Ultra Super Critical Expansion Unit (USCEU) at the Deen Bandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant (DCRTPP) in Yamunanagar. The project got the approval from the Union Government.
The project is estimated to be completed within 52 months (i.e. 4 years), followed by the complete takeover after 6 months. The commercial operations are anticipated to be completed in 48 months.

Sanjeev Kaushal, the Chief Secretary of Haryana, informed that the tendering process for the project will start in late October. With the construction of the power plant, Haryana is estimated to gain an additional 800 MW of electricity by the end of 2028.
