The Haryana Transport Department is planning to develop an interstate bus terminal near Dwaraka Expressway in Gurugram to replace the current terminal in Sector 12, the authority announced on Tuesday, January 16. The state government has directed the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructural Development Corporation (HSIIDC) to transfer an anticipated 15 Acres of land (free of cost) to the transport department for this development.

The proposed project envisages the development of a state-of-the-art bus terminal in Sector 36A of Gurugram, including facilities like multi-storey centrally air-conditioned buildings with offices, a waiting area accommodating nearly 500-1000 passengers, a shopping mall, and a food court. The project is poised to reduce traffic congestion in various locations such as Sadar Bazaar, Bus Stand Road, New Railway Road, Old Railway Road, MG Road, and old Gurugram-Delhi Road.

HSIIDC is currently identifying the land to transfer for the bus terminal project out of the 145 Acres plot earmarked for large-scale infrastructure projects, for which the layout is yet to be finalised. The deputy general manager, Arum Kumar Garg, said that HSIIDC is in the process of preparing the layout for the 140 Acres plot and will soon identify the land to transfer to the state transport department.
