Hindalco Industries’ copper division has revealed plans to invest an estimated 2,450 INR-Crore in two key projects in Gujarat. One major development includes setting up an e-waste recycling facility at Dahej. This facility will process an anticipated 300-350 Kilo-tonnes of scrap and e-waste annually.
The company has started construction for India’s first copper and e-waste recycling plant in Dahej. In the initial phase, Hindalco plans to recover around 50 Kilo-tonnes of copper, with the overall project aiming for 200 Kilo-tonnes. This first phase will have an estimated investment of 2,000 INR-Crore. Besides copper, the plant will produce precious metals like silver and gold.

Additionally, Hindalco intends to expand its copper smelting capacity at Dahej. The company plans to add 250-280 kilo-tonnes of capacity to meet India’s rising demand for copper, boosting production by 50-60%.
Hindalco is also establishing a 450 INR-Crore copper tube manufacturing unit in Vadodara, Gujarat. This facility will produce copper tubes for air conditioning and refrigeration systems. Furthermore, the Waghodia plant will start with a 25,000-tonne capacity and later expand to 75,000 Tonnes, requiring an additional 1,500 INR-Crore.
