On Tuesday, May 16, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu announced that Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) will establish an ethanol plant in the Una district. The plant will cover an area of 30 acres with an investment of INR 500 crores.
The government plans to contribute 50 percent equity and support the company throughout the setup process. The Chief Minister instructed the district administration to initiate land acquisition for the approach road and ensure a smooth construction process.
The plant is expected to generate employment opportunities for locals and farmers from Kangra, Hamirpur, and Bilaspur, benefiting neighboring districts in Punjab as well. Furthermore, an additional 20 acres of land will be allocated to the company based on their request.
