The State Government has devised an ambitious plan to revamp the Hyderabad sewerage system to tackle the city’s rapid growth. This plan focuses on renovating the existing infrastructure as well as extending the sewer network to the outer ring road (ORR). The Comprehensive Sewerage Master Plan (CSMP) has an estimated budget of 17,212 INR-Crore.
The Hyderabad sewerage project includes the construction of a 4,378 km sewer network. It covers all peripheral circles and portions of core city zones, reaching up to the ORR. Several Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) circles are part of the proposed peripheral regions, including Uppal, Kapra, Malkajgiri, Alwal, and more. Divided into three packages, these areas will span around 2,231 Km. Within the core area, the sewerage network will cover 424 km, while the remaining sections are distributed across urban local bodies (ULBs) within the ORR boundary.

Mumbai-based Shah Technical Consultants has crafted the Detailed Project Report (DPR). Under Package I, a 765.85 Km sewer network will be constructed, spanning Uppal, Kapra, Malkajgiri, Alwal, and Serilingampally circles. Package II involves building a 643.29 Km network in Rajendranagar and LB Nagar circles. Lastly, Package III will cover 831.78 Km, focusing on the Kukatpally and Quthbullapur circles.
Furthermore, to prevent sewage from flowing through Nalas, authorities will install new lateral sewers, branch sewers, and trunk mains. The project, costing an estimated 12,848 INR-Crore, focuses on constructing a new sewage collection system in areas lacking one. Moreover, the remaining funds will be used to upgrade the existing infrastructure, including pipes and pumping stations.
