The renowned auto-maker Hyundai Motor India, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-M) is set to develop a Hydrogen Valley Innovation Hub with an estimated investment of INR 180 Crore. Hyundai Motors and IIT-M signed the MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Guidance Tamil Nadu (the state government’s investment promotion agency) during the TN Global Investors Meet.
The upcoming facility will promote hydrogen-based clean energy solutions in various applications and sectors. Hyundai Motors has invested nearly INR 100 Crore towards the capital requirements, while the facility will be developed by IIT-M at its city campus along with providing building, research, and development infrastructure.

IIT-M will also be responsible for operating and maintaining the Hydrogen Valley and creating a curriculum and body of knowledge for skill development. Guidance Tamil Nadu would prominently support policy advocacy on hydrogen-related technologies and regulations development. The project is poised to meet India’s green hydrogen goals along with knowledge sharing, and skill development among others.
