INR 2,500 Crore proposed for construction of new Administrative City near Shillong

The Meghalaya Government has proposed to allocate an estimated INR 2500 Crore for developing a new administrative city at the new Shillong Township, Mawdiangdiang, announced the Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conard K Sangma, on Wednesday, February 07.

The planned administrative city will be located nearly 12 Km from the city centre in Mawdiangdiang and include all crucial facilities like road connectivity, water supply, and infrastructure. The project plan was reviewed by the Chief Minister and will be presented to the state cabinet for approval. The DPR is anticipated to be prepared by the end of Q2 of FY2024-25 while tenders for various construction works will be floated post-planning.

The project is planned comprehensively to improve living standards in Shillong as well as make all services available for residents in one location. The government has also sanctioned an additional INR 100 Crore towards developing three roads leading to the proposed administrative city and the work is expected to commence in the coming months.
