JSW Energy to set up India’s largest 25 MW Green Hydrogen Project for JSW Steel

JSW Energy Ltd is establishing India’s largest 25MW green hydrogen project in Vijayanagar, Karnataka, for its group firm JSW Steel Ltd to produce green steel. The company made a 7-year agreement to supply 3,800 tons per annum to JSW Steel, along with green oxygen.

Solar Energy Corp of India granted a capacity allocation of 6,800 TPA to JSW Energy. Additionally, the company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with JSW Steel to provide an extra 85,000 to 90,000 TPA of green hydrogen and 720,000 TPA of green oxygen by 2030.

Furthermore, JSW Energy has begun the construction of a 1.0 GWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The project is awarded by SECI and is slated for commissioning by June 2025. The project consists of two installations, each capable of storing 500 MWh, designed to provide two hours of storage per cycle. This initiative will be executed under a Build Own Operate and Transfer (BOOT) model.
