K-Ride awards contract to L&T to construct Kanaka Line for BSRP

Rail Infrastructure Development Company (Karnataka) Ltd (K-Ride) has awarded the project for the construction of the 37.92 km Kanaka Line to L&T (Larsen and Toubro). The authority issued the Letter of award for the project connecting Heelalige to Rajanukunte under the Bangalore Suburban Rail Project (BSRP) on Saturday, December 30, with the tender price pegged at INR 1040.51 Crore.

L&T also bagged the civil works contract for the 25.2 km long Corridor-2 of BSRP connecting Chikkabanawaro and Baiyappanahalli. With the addition of this tender, L&T will be responsible for developing a total 72.08 km length (almost 50% of the overall project) of the BSRP.

The scope of work also involves the construction of a 1.2 km long double-decker alignment of Corridor-1 and Corridor-4 near Yelahanka and the 500m long BSRP elevated viaduct below the BMRCL viaduct near Benniganahalli. The construction of the BSRP Corridor-2 is on schedule, whereas the construction of the Kanaka Line (anticipated to be completed within 30 months of commencement) will start soon.

Moreover, K-Ride will shortly invite tenders for the construction of Corridor-1 and Corridor-3 of the BSRP.
