The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has approved several key infrastructure projects for the city and state in its annual plan for 2024-25. The state government’s dedicated efforts have successfully secured 12,029 INR-Crore for nine highway projects.

Among the most significant infrastructure projects approved by NHAI is the 50km Vijayawada East bypass. This project will help alleviate traffic congestion and complement the existing bypass from Chinnavutapalli to Kaja. An estimated amount of 2,716 INR-Crore has been allotted for this project. Additionally, a consultancy firm has already prepared three alignment options.
