LOHUM, based in Greater Noida, will invest an estimated INR 2,000 Crore over six years in a new plant in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu. The company has acquired approximately 65 Acres of land and aims to start production at the 20-GWh plant in 18 months.
This upcoming plant will produce Cathode Active Material (CAM) for battery manufacture. In the first phase, LOHUM will invest around INR 400 Core over two years. Moreover, they will supply products to battery manufacturers like Ola, Exide, TVS, and Amara Raja. This new plant will recycle 20,000 Tonnes of batteries annually, producing cobalt, nickel, and lithium. It will initially produce 750 MWh of CAM, scaling up to 20 GWh in phases. The forthcoming plant will begin with 5 to 10 GWh, supplying materials to Gigafactories.
