The Maharashtra government has announced plans to invite real estate developers to build on 3,360 Acres of land owned by the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC). The state will soon issue nearly 150 tenders for these projects.

These upcoming depot projects for MSRTC will be developed under public-private partnership (PPP) models on a build-operate-transfer basis. The land parcels are spread across urban and rural areas, including prime locations in Mumbai and Pune. Additionally, the government plans to upgrade MSRTC depots to airport-level standards. Architect Hafeez Contractor has been appointed to develop a plan for these upgrades.

The projects will include developing commercial properties such as offices, hotels, shopping centers, and retail spaces. Furthermore, 100 bed hospitals will be constructed at district-level sites, along with facilities for MSRTC depots operations. With these initiatives, the Maharashtra government is committed to transforming MSRTC depots into high-end ‘bus-ports’ with modern amenities, providing a five-star feel.
