Madurai city’s metro rail project will initiate its implementation between Thirumangalam and Othakadai, with a 31-km stretch costing INR 8,500 crore.
T Arjunan, the Project Director of Chennai Metro Rail, stated that they will construct an underground track near the Vaigai River, taking utmost caution. The construction of the metro project will not impact the traditional monuments in the vicinity.
Currently, a survey is being conducted to determine the land acquisition requirements, and the possibility of establishing a metro station near the upcoming AIIMS hospital is being considered.
