MMRDA gets nod for MTHL connector joining Chirle-Pune Eway

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), on Tuesday, February 13, announced that it got approval for the proposed connector for MTHL (Mumbai Trans Harbour Link) at Chirle, further connecting with the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. The project is estimated to be developed at INR 1000 Crore and is anticipated to cut travel time between south Mumbai and Pune by an hour.

The proposed Chirle connector will comprise two 6-lane elevated roads, of which one will connect Chirle-Gavhan Phata, while the other will link Palaspe and the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. The construction is slated to be commenced soon and it is anticipated to be completed within 30 months.

The Mumbai Trans Harbour Link Road, India’s longest sea bridge, was inaugurated in January 2024 and has substantially cut travel time between Navi Mumbai and Mumbai. With the construction of the proposed new connector, the authority aims to facilitate smoother traffic flow and enhance connectivity in the key regions of the financial capital.
