The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), under the leadership of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, is currently executing projects worth INR 130,000 crore in Jammu and Kashmir, with 500 km of road network already completed in the region since 2014.
Three corridors, amounting to INR 35,000 crore, are being constructed to reduce the distance of 320 km between Jammu and Srinagar by 70 km, resulting in a travel time reduction from 10 hours to four to five hours.
Additionally, a world-class Inter Modal Station (IMS) in Katra has been announced by Gadkari to enhance the travel experience of pilgrims visiting the Vaishno Devi shrine.
Furthermore, Jammu and Kashmir, along with Ladakh, will witness the construction of 41 tunnels costing INR 45,000 crore and 18 ropeways worth INR 5,000 crore, as stated by the Minister.
