Tamil Nadu Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu announced a flyover project worth an estimated 310 INR-Crore in Velachery, Chennai. The project will improve connectivity between Guindy and Velachery.
The Velachery flyover will stretch approximately 3 Km, starting after Sardar Patel Junction on the Main Road and extending beyond Phoenix Mall. The bridge will feature two lanes and a 12 M width. It will seamlessly cover Race Course Road Junction, Five Furlong Road Junction, and Velachery Bypass Road Junction. Additionally, authorities have planned 5.5 M wide down ramps at Five Furlong Road and near Guru Nanak College. To enhance accessibility, the design includes a 1.5 M wide footpath and a 5.5 M wide service road on both sides.

Furthermore, authorities will acquire approximately 1,100 SqM of land and are likely to float the tender within the next three months. With the Velachery flyover, Chennai will witness a significant boost in road infrastructure, reducing congestion and ensuring smoother travel for commuters.
