The Highways Department has finalized estimates for a new bridge across the Palar River at Sevilimedu, Tamil Nadu. The bridge will run parallel to the existing one on the Kancheepuram-Vandavasi State Highway 116.
Stretching approximately 900 M, the new bridge will mirror the existing structure’s two-lane width, ensuring smooth and coordinated traffic flow. With an estimated cost of 100 INR-Crore, this project has an anticipated construction timeline of 18 months. Additionally, the Highways Department will restore a vital causeway across the Palar River.

Further improvements will include resurfacing the road to enhance the overall infrastructure. This new bridge in Tamil Nadu, along with the planned enhancements aims to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity to critical areas such as Walajahbad, Oragadam, Padappai, and Vandalur.
