Overview:
The National Institute of Technology (NIT) is top-tier autonomous public technical and research university in the state of Uttarakhand. The institute was founded way back in 2009 and recognized as an Institute of National Importance. Presently the institute is temporary operating from the campus located at Srinagar. The Government has now proposed the permanent campus at Sumari, Srinagar in Pauri Garhwal District of Uttarakhand. The 300 acre land has been identified in Sumari village for the project development.
Project Specification:
The proposed campus is designed to ensure the most conducive environment to facilitate collective engagement, spaces for self-growth, knowledge production and dissemination, community living, and inclusive culture. The campus will include the development of the following three blocks under phase 1
Block I: Administrative Building
This block envisages the construction of directorate, registry, deans offices, professional training & placement (PTP) cell, reception hall, and a waiting room.
Block II: Academic Buildings
The developer has planned to build a separate academic blockwhich includes departmental area (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Humanities & Social Sciences) – 4 departments, departmental area (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, and Computer Science Engineering) – 5 departments, lecture hall complex (including smart classrooms), laboratories and workshops, central library, computer center, multipurpose hall with 250 capacity. Every block has a learning space considering the sustainability at the topmost of their priorities.
Block III: Residential Buildings
Along with academic and administrative buildings this campus also listed the student hostels (girls & boys), faculty & staff accommodation, and institute guest house in the proposal. The campus also has common amenities such as student activities center, faculty & staff club, estate/maintenance section, institute canteen, dispensary consist of 10 beds, auditorium with 500 capacity are also included in the proposal.
Locality and Connectivity
The free flow of natural light and an open space act as a top-notch factor to the campus project. Striking light and soothing space give an extraordinary value to the project. Likewise, Rishikes is among the nearest railway station which is at a distance of 44.57 km from the campus site. The nearest airport is Dehradun Airport, 52.29 km away from campus site.
