Union Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has approved the construction of a 4-lane Vellore bypass to connect NH-75 and NH-38. Spanning approximately 20.492 Km, the estimated investment for the project is 753 INR-Crore.

Planned as a greenfield alignment, the Vellore bypass will ease traffic congestion in the city. Authorities will acquire land with a 50-Meter right-of-way, far exceeding the usual 30 Meters. This will allow a smooth transition to a 6-lane carriageway with 2-lane service roads in the future, strictly following IRC guidelines.

Furthermore, the Vellore bypass will feature efficient cross-drainage systems and durable bridge structures. These enhancements will help manage water flow effectively, tackling past flooding challenges. Moreover, this infrastructure project will strengthen connectivity while ensuring a safer and more sustainable roadway for commuters.
