The Network Planning Group (NPG) held its 85th meeting to evaluate five critical infrastructure projects. These projects, spanning rail and road sectors, aim to align with the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan. They promise to enhance logistical efficiency, cut travel times, and deliver remarkable socio-economic benefits.
The road sector features three major highway projects. The Barabanki-Bahraich project in Uttar Pradesh will upgrade 101.54 Km of NH-927 to a four-lane highway. It will link Lucknow, Shrawasti Airport, NH-27, and the India-Nepal border. This upgrade will also unlock new economic opportunities, supporting industries, tourism, and cross-border trade.
Additionally, the Kanpur-Kabrai Highway project involves constructing a 118.8 Km Greenfield highway with 6-lane structures. It will connect Kanpur Ring Road to Kabrai on NH-35. Guided by NPG, the project will improve access to seven railway stations and three airports.
