The Odisha Government is investing an estimated 9,200 INR-Crore to redevelop four major medical institutions, aiming to transform the state’s healthcare infrastructure. These projects aim to enhance hospital capacities and modernize facilities, addressing growing healthcare demands in the state.
In Burla, VIMSAR Medical College and Hospital will undergo redevelopment at a cost of 1,594 INR-Crore, expanding bed capacity from 1,485 to 2,861. Berhampur’s MKCG Medical College and Hospital will increase beds from 1,583 to 2,033, at 1,014.13 INR-Crore. Furthermore, the estimated cost for the Rourkela Government Hospital is 627.16 INR-Crore and will boost its capacity from 437 to 763 beds. The Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar, with around 5,958 INR-Crore investment, will increase beds from 750 to 2,582, making it a flagship project in Odisha’s healthcare infrastructure overhaul.

Additionally, ongoing redevelopment at Cuttack’s SCB Medical College, costing around 4,474.49 INR-Crore, targets completion by June 2026, expanding beds to 3,796. The Acharya Harihar Cancer Institute, with 895.89 INR-Crore, will increase beds to 1,127 in its first phase. The redevelopment of these institutions will reshape the healthcare landscape in Odisha, offering long-term opportunities for industry stakeholders.
