PATNA: The Bihar cabinet had given its nod for the redevelopment of Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) at its existing campus of Ashok Rajpath, Patna.
It would be the world’s largest hospital having 5462 beds with 36 super speciality departments against the present eight super speciality departments said cabinet secretariat department Principal Secretary Sanjay Kumar to reporters
The hospital project is estimated to be at a cost of Rs. 5540.07 crore and would be redeveloped by Bihar Medical Services & Infrastructure Corporation Ltd (BMSICL)on a turn key basis.
The PMCH was established in 1925 and at present has a capacity of 1754 beds, while the number of MBBS seats would be increased to 250 against the existing 150. The hospital would be redeveloped in three phases in seven years.
Bihar Medical Services & Infrastructure Corporation Ltd (BMSICL) has already invited tenders for the selection of composite works contractor.
