Public Works Department Delhi Sports University in the Village of Ghevra

The Public Works Department (PWD) of Delhi has proposed to come up with a new Delhi Sports University at Village Ghevra, North West district in the state of Delhi. This new sports university will bring together avant-garde infrastructure for sports students and enthusiasts. It will include residential facilities for student and faculty accommodation, sports infrastructure, and educational spaces. This residential sports complex shall come out as a one-stop destination for training forthcoming sportsmen that will win accolades and medals for the country.

Project Specifications:

The upcoming Delhi Sports University at Village Ghevra will extend over an area of 79.4 acres. The built-up area comprising the residential, educational, and sports facility will span 2,699,029 sq. ft. It is expected that the complex shall consist of University Functional Blocks, University Residential Blocks, Education Infrastructure, Sports Facilities, Outdoor Sports Arena, Indoor Sports Arena, One Indoor Hall, One Multi storey Indoor Hall, and Delhi Sports School.

Impact:

The complex needs to be sustainable in order to manage the long-term operating costs of the building. Proposals towards greener initiatives for the same like adopting a Sewage Treatment Plant and Rain Water Harvesting have been considered. The project shall also house amenities like Guest Rooms, Meeting and Conference Rooms, Library, Indoor Games, Indoor Theatre, Basketball Court, Yoga and Aerobics Studio, and Landscaped Garden areas.
