Qualcomm to set up INR 177 Crore design center in Chennai

CHENNAI: Qualcomm, a prominent semiconductor and telecommunications equipment company, has revealed its intentions to set up a new design center in Chennai, India. This initiative is anticipated to enhance wireless innovation and generate employment opportunities for up to 1,600 individuals. 

With an investment of INR 177 Crore, the design center underscores Qualcomm’s dedication to India’s growing tech sector and its strategic significance in global wireless research and development. The Chennai facility is positioned to emerge as a central hub for pioneering advancements in wireless technology.

Along with Qualcomm’s announcement, the Global Investors Meet saw officials from Tamil Nadu and Tata Electronics anticipate the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU). This agreement is expected to direct an INR 7,000 Crore investment towards the expansion of Tata’s Hosur plant. The decision to expand the plant signifies the increasing emphasis on manufacturing capabilities within the state.
