Rail bridges worth 997 INR-Crore to be constructed over four rivers in Odisha

On Monday, September 02, the Ministry of Railways announced that it will construct four crucial rail bridges in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, Odisha. These bridges, part of the third-line expansion, will enhance rail connectivity in the region. The estimated cost of this 22-Km rail line is 996.60 INR-Crore.

The rail bridges are a segment of the strategic expansion between Bhadrak in Odisha and Vizianagaram in Andhra Pradesh, spanning around 385 Km on the Howrah-Chennai mainline. These bridges, set to rise over the Mahanadi, Birupa, Kathajodi, and Kuakhai rivers, will be situated in the balance section between Nergundi and Barang.

Furthermore, about 48.8 Km of the third line project between Bhadrak and Nergundi has been commissioned. Meanwhile, preliminary steps have begun for the 363-Km stretch between Khurda Road and Vizianagaram, further advancing the grand vision of this strategic expansion.
