Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced India’s approval of railway projects worth 800 INR-crore for Visakhapatnam Railway Station. These projects aim to enhance railway infrastructure in the region.
The sanctioned projects include a new 15.3 km railway line connecting Visakhapatnam and Gopalapatnam, at a cost of 159.47 INR-crore. Additionally, a 20.543 km new railway line between Duvvada and Simhachalam North has been approved at a cost of 302.20 INR-crore.
Another significant development is a 12.04 km new railway line connecting Vadlapudi and Gate Junction cabin, along with the Tie line linking Gangavaram Port to Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, costing 54.28 INR-crore. Moreover, a rail flyover project spanning 7.135 km between Pendurti and Simhachalam North at Simhachalam has been sanctioned for 183.65 INR-crore.
These projects aim to address capacity constraints and reduce train detention at Visakhapatnam railway station, while accommodating future traffic growth. Land acquisition for these projects has already commenced.
MP GVL Narasimha Rao, a member of the Railway Users’ Consultative Committee of East Coast Railways, expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for their significant financial support towards railway projects at Visakhapatnam Railway Station. He believes that these developments will play a crucial role in enhancing railway services and promoting growth in the Visakhapatnam region.
