Ramco Cements Ltd has proposed to expand its manufacturing and waste heat recovery capacity at its Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu facilities with an estimated investment of INR 1403 Crore. The company plans to double its cement manufacturing capacity at the Kalavatala Integrated Cement Plant in Andhra Pradesh with an investment of INR 1250 Crore and set up a new Waste Heat Recovery System (WHRS) at its Ramasamy Raja Nagar Plant in Tamil Nadu worth INR 153 Crore.
Kalavatala Integrated Cement Plant, Andhra Pradesh
On Thursday, February 08, the board of Ramco Cements approved the proposal for establishing Line II at the Kalavatala Plant to double its clinker capacity to 6.3 MTPA and cement capacity to 3 MTPA. The project also involves developing an additional WHRS to increase its capacity to 15 MW. It is anticipated to be commissioned in FY26 and funded through internal accruals and bank borrowings.
Through this project, the company’s overall clinker capacity will reach 19 MTPA, whereas its overall cement capacity will be 26 MTPA.

Waste Heat Recovery System (WHRS) Plant, Tamil Nadu
The proposed WHRS plant will be developed at the company’s existing Ramasamy Raja Nagar Factory Complex having a generation capacity of 10 MW. It is currently under the process of necessary approvals and is anticipated to be operational by March 2025.
Together, the Ramasamy complex WHRS plant and Kalavatala WHRS Plant are expected to increase Ramco’s capacity from the current 43MW to 68MW by FY26. The company aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and lower its environmental footprint in cement construction through this project.
