Titagarh Wagons and Ramkrishna Forgings, as a consortium, are actively identifying a cost-effective location for establishing one of Asia’s largest train wheel manufacturing plants.
The consortium, operating under the special purpose vehicle (SPV) named Ramkrishna Titagarh Rail Wheels Limited, plans to incorporate state-of-the-art German technology and machinery into the facility.
The estimated capital expenditure for the plant amounts to INR 1,000 crore. In order to determine the ideal location, the consortium considers factors such as incentives, convenient access to raw materials, and cost-effective transportation of finished goods.
Having secured the tender with a competitive bid of INR 12,226 crore, the consortium has been assured by railway authorities of an annual off-take of 80,000 wheels for the next two decades, thus supporting domestic manufacturing in India.
