Background:

The Maharashtra Film, Stage and Cultural Development Corporation is engaged in the development and promotion of activities in the field of cinema, dramatics, folk art including tamasha, music, dance, and other performing arts.

Development of Film City:

As part of this endeavour, the Authority has decided to undertake development and operation/ maintenance of the Film City, Goregaon Project through Public-Private Partnership (PPP) on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) basis, and has, therefore, decided to carry out the Bidding Process for selection of a private entity as the bidder to whom the Project may be awarded.

Parties Involved:

Three bidders had come forward for the Rs 2,550 crore proposal to redevelop and upgrade Filmcity City in Goregaon. Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) led by Mukesh Ambani and Reliance Big Entertainment (RBE) led by Anil Ambani and Bhanot Infra Ventures (BIV) are the three who had participated in the pre-bid queries and separately showed interest in the project.

Project Specifications:

The project involves upgradation of the existing infrastructure such as providing a monumental avenue comprising of Bollywood based theme park, Bollywood museum (section earmarked for Maharashtra cultural museum) and a grand entry Gate to Film City.

Additionally, there would also be hospitality facilities with a bouquet of offerings ranging from 5-star, 3-star & budget hotels to dormitories, convention centre, multi-level car parking, ticketing & information centre, and ancillary structures.
