Background:
The local governing bodies in Delhi have developed colonies to accommodate their staff. Model Town is one such colony where North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) has accommodated its staff.
About the Project:
Due to the increased demand, NDMC has entrusted WAPCOS to redevelop its staff colony at Model Town. To achieve this, the existing G+3 structures which are in a bad condition are to be demolished and new residential and infrastructure development has been proposed.
The site, owned by MCD is spread over 23.5 acres and will offer approximately 6 Million Sqft of built-up area. A key factor is MCD’s and WAPCOS’s ambition to come up with a solution that could become a model of best practices both in India and internationally.
Locality:
The proposed redevelopment of NDMC staff colony at Model Town is located at a very prominent location in Delhi, with connectivity to Majlis Park metro station and other central business districts. The site is located on Arihant Marg near Majlis Park metro station.
The new area will also include recreational areas such as a sculpture park, Landscape Park, food courts/plazas, nature parks etc., also some social infrastructure and medical facilities.
