Reliance Infra to set up 10,000 INR-Crore arms ammunition project in Maharashtra

Reliance Infrastructure Ltd recently announced establishing an integrated project to manufacture explosives, ammunition, and small arms in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra. Reliance Defence Ltd, a subsidiary of Reliance Infra, will be leading this ambitious undertaking. 

With around 1,000 Acres allotted in the Watad Industrial Area, the company will develop the ‘Dhirubhai Ambani Defence City (DADC)’ to become the largest greenfield project in India’s defence sector by a private player. Reliance Infra plans to invest over 10,000 INR-Crore in the next decade to bring this Maharashtra facility to life.

The ammunition range will cover small, medium, and large calibers, along with terminally-guided munitions (TGM). The small arms portfolio will cater to civil as well as military applications, targeting export markets. Additionally, the project seeks to form joint ventures with six global defence companies to enhance production capabilities.
