Reliance Industries (RIL), led by Mukesh Ambani, and Adani Total Gas (ATGL), led by Gautam Adani, have announced plans to establish 10 compressed biogas (CBG) plants each across India. These plants will have a capacity of up to 30 million tonnes per annum. The companies will invest up to INR 2500 Crore each to set up these plants.
Both RIL and ATGL have already identified several sites for the plants. The construction of five plants is scheduled to take place within the next five years, while the remaining plants will be set up at a later stage. RIL will establish five CBG plants in Gujarat, with the other five to be distributed across the country.
Currently, there is an ongoing development of a plant in Uttar Pradesh with a daily capacity of 600 tonnes, expected to commence CBG production by the end of the current financial year.
