The second phase of the redevelopment of Prayagraj Junction is now underway. The redevelopment project focuses on heritage preservation as well as modern development.
The scope of work for phase 2 involves pillar piling to construct a 72-meter wide concourse on the Civil Lines side of the junction. It aims to provide airport-like amenities for passengers. The main structural work is expected to be completed by October 2024, whereas this phase is expected to be completed by December 2026.

Prayagraj Junction will feature accommodation facilities, spacious areas for food and shopping, and a food plaza. Additionally, there will be a VIP lounge, ramps, automated stairs, and lifts for passenger movement. A modern barrack with a capacity to accommodate 200 personnel will be built at the junction. The nine-story building will further enhance security and operational efficiency.
Prayagraj Junction has received the highest budget allocation for station redevelopment in the country, amounting to INR 960 Crore. This substantial investment reflects the commitment to transforming the station into a world-class facility.
