The Chairman of the Indian National Space Promotion & Authorization Centre (IN-SPACe), Dr. Pawan Goenka, announced on Tuesday, October 10, that ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) is developing its second spaceport in Kulasekharapatnam, Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu.
The spaceport will be dedicated to Small Satellite Launch Vehicles (SSLVs) and will only be used by the private sector. A land area of 2,000 Acres has been handed over to ISRO for development. The estimated completion period is two years.

Dr. Goenka also added that a small Space Manufacturing Park would be developed near the spaceport in the future. The planning and budgeting for the project are done and the team now awaits the completion of the construction.
