SJVN Ltd, a state-owned company, has entered into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMA) to establish an 18-megawatt (MW) solar power project, involving an investment of INR 90 Crore.
SJVN through its wholly-owned subsidiary, SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), has inked a PPA for 25 years to develop the solar power project on land parcels owned by BBMB in Himachal Pradesh and Punjab.

The project is scheduled to commence by August 2024 and is projected to result in an annual reduction of 44,923 tons of carbon emissions.
This project has been successfully obtained through open competitive bidding during an e-reverse auction organized by the Punjab Energy Development Agency, with a tariff of INR 2.63 per unit. Over a 25-year period, the cumulative energy generation is estimated to reach approximately 917 million units.
