Tamil Nadu CM M K Stalin laid the foundation stone for the 3.2 km-long elevated corridor on Anna Salai Road on Friday, January 19. The 4-lane elevated corridor is being developed at an estimated cost of INR 621 Crore.
The upcoming corridor is designed to carry 2.5 Lakh vehicles per day and will reduce traffic time between Saidapet to Teynampet to less than five minutes. It will avoid traffic congestion at five intersections on Anna Salai Road, including Eldams Road, SIET Women’s College, Cenotaph Road, Nandanam Road, and CIT Road.

EV Velu, state highways minister, mentioned that experts from Germany, England, IIT-Madras and CMRL (Chennai Metro Rail Corporation) collaborated to create the final plans for the foundation of the corridor. As a result, the state highways department will use prefabricated structures during construction.
