On Tuesday, August 13, the Tamil Nadu Cabinet approved 15 new private investments worth an estimated INR 44,125 Crore. These investments will create employment opportunities for around 24,700 people. The Cabinet also approved three renewable energy policies, aiming to achieve 20,000 MW power generation by 2030.
These investments in Tamil Nadu will focus on vehicle manufacturing, food processing, electronics, renewable energy, and battery manufacturing. Among them, Sembcorp’s estimated investment of INR 21,340 Crore in Thoothukudi district stands out, promising jobs for 1,114 people. Additionally, Motherson Electronics will invest around INR 2,200 Crore in Kancheepuram district, generating 2,600 jobs.

Furthermore, Dairy products maker, Milky Mist will invest an estimated INR 1,777 Crore in the food processing sector in Erode district. Global lithium-ion battery recycling company, LOHUM will invest an estimated INR 1,597 Crore in Krishnagiri. The Cabinet also approved policies for pumped storage projects, small hydel projects, and the repowering of windmills as part of Tamil Nadu investments in the energy sector.
