Tamil Nadu is set to house one of India’s largest knowledge hubs (Tamil Nadu Knowledge City) near Chennai to create a global knowledge ecosystem by bringing knowledge-based industries, universities, and sustainable social living in a single place. The facility will be located in Uthukottai Taluk and Vengal Village, Tiruvallur district and cover nearly 1,424 acres of land parcel.
Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation Ltd (TIDCO), the nodal agency to establish Tamil Nadu Knowledge City (TKC), has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the selection of the consultant for the Techno-Economic feasibility Report.

TKC aims to catalyse Tamil Nadu’s transformation into a world-class knowledge powerhouse by creating an ecosystem that hosts top universities and knowledge-based industries in a way that brings higher education, human capability development, technology and research together fueling next-generation innovations in a self-sustainable green living environment. It will also foster a cross-geographic, multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, inclusive learning and living ecosystem that leverages the strengths of Indian and Global diversity in STEM, Medicine, Business, Music, Law, Art and Culture education.
Through startup hubs, incubators, accelerators, venture capital and private equity firms, TKC will promote entrepreneurship and develop niece skills and competencies in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, virtual reality, the internet of things, and blockchain. This will also assist Tamil Nadu in branding and promoting itself as the most attractive destination in Asia for high-quality higher education and attracting both domestic and international students.
