Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Limited (TSSEZL) and Hygenco (HHP Five Pvt Ltd) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to set up a green hydrogen and green ammonia project in Odisha. It will be located at TSSEZL’s Gopalpur Industrial Park (GIP) in Odisha’s Ganjam district.
Hygenco, known for producing low-cost green hydrogen, will acquire land in GIP to establish its green hydrogen, green ammonia, and derivatives unit. The project will produce 1 Mn TPA (million tonnes per annum) of green hydrogen in phases. The initial phase of the project is expected to be commissioned by December 2026.

The green ammonia produced at this facility will be exported through the existing Gopalpur Port facility located close to GIP. With this addition, the total committed capacity for green hydrogen and green ammonia manufacturing at the Industrial Park is now around 2.6 Mn TPA.
