THDCIL to invest 8,800 INR-Crore in pumped storage projects in Rajasthan

Riya Fernandes Oct 03, 2024 0

Rishikesh-based THDCIL has entered into an agreement with the Rajasthan Government to establish 1,600 MW of pumped storage projects. This massive investment of around 8,800 INR-Crore will focus on two 800 MW projects—one at Bisanpura in Bundi and another at Rampura in Tonk.

The Bisanpura pumped storage project will draw water from the Gudha Dam, while the Rampura project will source water from the existing Bisalpur reservoir. This well-planned approach guarantees a steady water supply while minimizing environmental harm. As a result, both pumped storage projects will significantly enhance energy storage capacity and improve grid stability.

Currently, THDCIL has a diverse portfolio of nine projects across hydro, thermal, wind, and solar energy, boasting a total capacity of around 4,351 MW. Of this, 1,587 MW are operational projects, while 2,764 MW are still under construction. These pumped storage projects will undoubtedly contribute to India’s sustainable energy solutions.
