The Uttar Pradesh Government approved the construction of a 72 km-long Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) Corridor with an estimated construction cost of 1,600 INR Crore. The project was approved during a meeting chaired by UP Chief Secretary D S Mishra on Monday, December 04.
The proposed corridor will connect the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar with Ghaziabad’s 17 km priority section. The project aims to connect several towns in NCR (National Capital Region), including Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Delhi, and Meerut.
RRTS will receive 50% of financial aid from the Uttar Pradesh Government, whereas 20% will be contributed by the Centre and the remaining 30% will be commissioned by YEIDA and the Greater Noida Authority together.
Apart from the RRTS project, the UP government has instructed NCRTC to initiate feeder bus services from Jewar Airport to Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad to ensure improved connectivity.
