“Our job is similar to the conductor of a symphony orchestra. The conductor understands each musical instrument thoroughly. He knows when, how, and by which instrumentalists the symphony needs to be played. There are exact timings to let musical phrases enter and exit a composition. Sometimes the same music plays together in musical parlance, sometimes one has to play melodically, or sometimes everyone has to play harmonically. Without a competent music conductor, we can thus imagine what can happen to a symphony orchestra. Similarly, in the A/E/C industry, there is a precise sequencing of works, and sometimes works happen parallelly. We consider ourselves as the ‘conductor’ of this ‘design and construction symphony.’ The role of the ‘conductor’ who wears many hats like a BIM coordinator and manager is an important role which we are well qualified to play, “Jagan Venkataramanan explains.

The concept of working in a central model with linked files is how collaboration for large projects is brought about. In such cases, the projects and relational databases reside in a CDE (Common Desktop Environment). There has thus been a definite shift in the emphasis laid on collaborating more efficiently using BIM tools.
Companies who have not invested in central CDE and work-from-home solutions suffer due to meeting quality and unmet delivery timelines. “Improving the status quo of existing workflows in the AEC industry, keeping sustainability in mind, is what makes us get out of our beds every morning. There is therefore a lot of work in revolutionizing antiquated methods of working using legacy systems. The task of transferring the trusted brick-and-mortar process onto a technological interface and training and mentoring the younger generation is thus the need of the hour. According to us, in roughly another ten years, a very high percentage of the world AEC fraternity will use BIM-based workflows. Several countries have made it mandatory for all government submissions to use these reliable methods.
