The Finance department has approved INR 727 Crore for the proposed KMDA flyover from Metropolitan Crossing at EM Bypass to New Town in Kolkata. Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) will execute the construction of the four-lane.

The upcoming KMDA flyover will be 7 Km-long. It will start from Metropolitan Crossing, move over Chingrighata, and then enter Salt Lake Bypass. It will run parallel to the Metro alignment, enter Sector V via Nicco Park, and finally terminate at New Town. Meanwhile, KMDA plans to float the tenders for this project soon.

Additionally, the project will showcase entry and exit ramps at points like Sector V and Karunamoyee. These will help manage crowd dispersal from the East-West Metro project between Sector V and Sealdah. To address traffic issues during construction, KMDA will keep the Chingrighata flyover operational until the new flyover is completed.
