BENGALURU: On Friday, September 1, Industries Minister MB Patil announced that the state government would establish a “Knowledge-Health-Innovation and Research City” (KHIR) spanning 2,000 acres of land on the outskirts of Bengaluru.
In the first phase, they will develop 1,000 acres of land to accommodate a world-class university, a state-of-the-art hospital, and advanced innovation and research facilities. Patil stated that the government is actively taking steps to improve industrial infrastructure, and local industrial associations will manage industrial areas.

The minister reported that over the past few months, investments totaling INR 60,000 Crore have been secured, resulting in the generation of approximately 30,000 jobs. Companies like Foxconn, JSW Energy, Tata Electronics, and IBC have signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) for substantial investments.
Furthermore, the Vijayapura Airport is scheduled to become operational by April 2024. In addition to this, there are plans to establish an eco-tourism park spanning 1,819 acres of land in Uttara Kannada through a public-private partnership model. Additionally, there are intentions to create an Aero City Business Park on 407 acres of land near Kempegowda International Airport.
