Indian Railways is set to invest around INR 612 crores in the next five years for the redevelopment of Gorakhpur Railway Station. The project aims to create state-of-the-art facilities, inspired by modern airports, and feature a seamless blend of old heritage and modern design.
The Authorities are expanding the main station building of Gorakhpur Railway Station to 17,900 sqm, doubling its current size. They are also expanding the second entry station building to 7,400 sqm, which will feature 44 lifts, 21 escalators, and a parking area for 900 cars, twice the current capacity.
The renovated building will have a concourse of 63,000 sqm with seating for 3,500 passengers, offering all passenger amenities in one place and further constructing a skyway to reduce the transit time from 30 minutes to 15 minutes at Gorakhpur Railway Station.
