Uday Samant, the Industries Minister, on Friday, November 24, announced the government’s plans to acquire 5,000 hectares of land in Gadchiroli, Maharashtra, for industrial development. The announcement was made during the Industries department review meeting with the District Planning Committee.
During the meeting, Samant highlighted the interest of several companies in setting up their units in the district, worth an estimated aggregate investment of 22,000 INR crores. The companies like Lloyds Metals and Varad Ferro have signed the MoUs (Memorandum of Understanding) for the same, whereas, notifications for the projects will be announced soon.

The areas highlighted for land acquisition for these projects are Chamorshi, Mulchera, Armori, and Sironcha. The government has also proposed developing a “Udyog Bhawan” worth an estimated investment of 14 INR crore in the state for supporting employment initiatives and industrial projects.
Companies like Ambuja Cement and JSW have also shown interest in setting up units in this zone. With investments from these major companies, the district is expected to be positioned among the top five districts in the state in terms of industrial development.
