ENGIE, the French energy major, on Tuesday, November 28, announced that it will be setting up a 400 MW solar project for the Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (GUVNL) in the state. The company was awarded this project at the 750 MW GUVNL auction process worth an estimated investment of USD 200 Mn.
The project is currently in the construction phase, with FID (Final Investment Decision) already made. (This is the final stage of project development before the implementation/beginning of construction). It is projected to generate 907 GW-Hrs (Gigawatts-hours) of electricity while avoiding 774,112 tonnes of carbon emissions annually.

The solar project will be ENGIE’s third renewable project in Gujarat. The other projects include a 200 MW solar project in Raghanesda and a 29.9 MW wind project in Tithva. With the ongoing project, the company’s total renewable portfolio in India will rise to 1.5 GW, with 18 projects across seven states.
