Dharmendra Pradhan, the union education minister, on Thursday, November 30, laid the foundation stone for six projects at NITR (National Institute of Technology, Rourkela). These projects will be executed at an estimated cost of 200 INR Crore.
The projects include three 500-seater girls’ hostels, a 1000-seater boys hostel, a 1.5 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant, and faculty residences. The hostels will occupy approximately 15 acres of land. Out of the three girls’ hostels, one hostel worth an estimated cost of 42.69 INR Crore would be funded by MCL (Mahanadi Coalfields Limited) under their CSR activity.

Through these projects, NITR is progressing in infrastructural development based on industrial collaboration. It aims to empower education and help its students to innovate and research.
